Program Synopsis: The pharmacy technician program is offered exclusively at the Advanced Career Education Center at Highland Springs. The 1 year program for juniors and seniors is a 3 credit course and allows students to take the Virginia State Board Exam. HCPS pays for the students to take their exam, which gives them a license to work in Virginia pharmacies.
Pharmacy Technician: The class teaches students basic pharmacology and how to assist pharmacists in all types of pharmacy settings. Students also learn communication skills, medical math calculations, pharmacy ethics and workplace readiness skills set by the state of Virginia.
Instructor: Audrey Valentine (CPHT, MBA) has worked and taught in the field since 2004.
Ms. Valentine has a passion for teaching and learning. She especially loves reading, writing, singing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Desired Aptitudes: Strong math, science, and computer skills. Preferred grade of ”C” or above.
