Program Synopsis: The Criminal Justice Program at the ACE Center at Highland Springs introduces students to the tactics related to criminal investigation and the prevention of crime. The course provides training for potential police officers, probation officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and forensic technicians. The course is taught using equipment used the field and the students learn the most up to date methods and tactics. The course covers two years and provides 6 credits.

Criminal Justice I: Addresses criminal law, investigating traffic offenses, firearms and police weapons training, using deadly force, trial procedures, and juvenile justice.

Criminal Justice II: During the second year, the emphasis is on learning tactics in narcotics, obtaining search warrants, first-aid, domestic disputes, full crime scene processing and investigation, DUI investigation, handcuffing, and corrections.

Instructor: 
Mr. Rylan Browne teaches both classes at the ACE Center at Highland Springs . He is a former police officer and instructs students using the same methods and training he received while in law enforcement.

 

 

Desired Aptitudes: The Criminal Justice field looks for students who are strong speakers, writers, and people of strong integrity.
